The Costa Rica Thermic Dome is a marine area of approximately 1.570.470 km2, located in the northeastern region of the Eastern Tropical Pacific. It is an area of high primary productivity, where cold water wells up from deep ocean areas, rising to just below the warm surface layer.

On January 20 started a expedition, organized by MarViva and Mission Blue in the Costa Rica Thermic Dome and its areas of influence, wich result in a documentary about the ecological and commercial importance of this area.
